Marilyn and I have just returned from another great two weeks at Firefly. Our yearly February trip was even more special this year as we were joined with special friends Bob and Svetlana Patterson. Every year we come, we worry about weight gain from all the wonderful foods available everywhere. We did OK this year, and lots of long walks on the beach sure helps. The thing we miss the most all year is the staff’s friendliness, and the warm and sincere smiles we get every day at Firefly. I know if that friendly feeling was missing we would not enjoy our trip so much as we do. Amazingly we won the free week and will be back for our anniversary in May. Who would believe that we could get so excited to return so soon but that is what is happening. Every day we speak of our return in May even though we just left. We can honestly say that we have never felt this way about any other vacation place we have been to. (Including Sandals and Couples in Negril). See you all soon.

This is the 7th consecutive year that my husband, Mike, and I are
vacationing at the Firefly. We started with a two week vacation in
Negril at the Firefly and now we are staying for 5-6 weeks. Needless to
say, we love Jamaica and the Firefly. The staff make us feel
extremely welcome and are very friendly and genuine.
The Firefly has one of the very few clothing optional beaches in Negril, and is right in the middle of the 7 mile beach. It's a short walk to many excellent Jamaican restaurants and night life.
It has its own beach bar, serving breakfast, they are a "pancake house". They also make delicious, fresh drinks and sandwiches.
The Firefly has the most friendly and unique bar on the beach. It has a bohemian atmosphere that attracts people from all walks of life. Many tourists and locals
stop by for a drink and to catch up with friends.
We have many friends there, most of them come back year after year, so it seems like "coming home again". Some of our friends have been
coming to the Firefly for 20 years or more. .

My husband and I have had the great fortune to be able to stay three times at what we find to be the jewel of Negril. It is the Firefly Beach Cottages. It is located on Negril Beach and right in the middle of everything you want to do in Jamaica . It is beautiful there. From the minute you arrive and walk through the lush tropical gardens to get to the office you are truly in paradise. The cottages are all decorated so nice. Our preference is the Cozy Cottage because it is closet to the Caribbean Sea but every one is fantastic. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. They go out of their way to make sure your Jamaica vacation is all you dreamed that it would be. A nice bar is open to you every day from 8-6. You can start with your morning coffee and have wonderful meals cooked for you all day. Of course, it also has all the liquid refreshment you could want and the best priced Red Stripe on the beach. It is right in the heart of where you can take part in any water activity that you want and many vendors that have Jamaican items or food you may want to buy. It is very close to Margaritaville and other fun tourist spots. We were there this year from August 9 to August 15, 2010. We had the best time we have ever had in our lives. At night there is plenty of nightlife on the beach. love it there and would like to thank everyone at the Firefly. We will be back as soon as we can!

We have been to Firefly twice now and absolutely love the place. Everyone is so friendly. We love Maxine and Nesrey at the bar.
Nicola and all the rest of the staff. The people that stay at all those all inclusive places don't know what they are missing! I wouldn't
stay at one of those for anything. For the real flavor and friendly hospitality Firefly is the place. Just like the magnet says " I'm going
back to Firefly Beach Cottages"

My family stayed at Firefly for ten days this April (we have a seven year old daughter), this was our seventh trip to Jamaica and our second stay at Firefly. We'd like to thank everyone for making our trip an amazing experience. We have been fortunate to be able to travel a little over the years and nowhere do we feel as welcome, safe and comfortable as at Firefly. It is not only the unparalleled beauty of the area but the caring and thoughtful people that make this location truly unforgettable.
Mr. Jerry, who takes you to and from the airport (and offers a great selection of outings throughout the area), Joan and Nicola in the office, the cleaning ladies, groundskeeper Oswald, the security folks, Dornette, who does braids and massage by the beach and Nesrey who helps run the beach bar/restaurant were all fantastic. Maxine, who also runs the beach bar/restaurant is one of the nicest people we've ever met, we can't thank her enough or overestimate her contribution to our trip. Thanks as well to Amango Rango Django for the music and friendship.
The accommodations are clean, functional and comfortable and the grounds are well kept and full of beautiful trees and flowers. There are a variety of different rooms to suit most tastes and budgets. Local vendors like the "fruit lady" bring fresh produce by each day and you can also get fresh juices, patties, popsicles and just about anything else right on the beach.
We also recommend the breakfasts (especially the full house omelet) from the beach bar. The Firefly beach bar also has the cheapest and coldest Red Stripe beer on the beach. If you are looking for a place that features great location and accommodations, wonderful people and lots of character try Firefly. We really feel like we've found a home away from home.
Thanks,
Steve, Shelley and Sarah

As usual, a stunning stay.
There is a saying- you can't pick your family." If there was a family to choose, it would be everyone at Firefly. Everything here is for the comfort and satisfaction of the guests. From the gardens that you walk through on a small meandering path, to the room, hot tub, bar, breakfasts and lunches, and of course the beach and Caribbean sea . Firefly is a small place that pays attention to the needs and desires of the guests. Always clean and comfortable, we return year after year.

The quality of one’s vacation can be measured by the joyful memories of that time, and our most recent stay at Firefly rates at the very top! We had a blast!!! Our many stays at Firefly make it and the people there feel like home and family. We’ve stayed in different rooms and each has been very clean and comfortable. This time we actually took advantage of the full kitchen and did a bit of cooking, although breakfast and lunch at the bar is always delicious as are the drinks – thanks Maxine, you are a gem with personality plus. The entire staff is fantastic! Each person bends over backwards to accommodate individual needs – and ALWAYS pleasantly. The gardens, kept beautiful by Oswald, attract many birds – oh how I wish we could grow 8 feet tall hibiscus trees in Minnesota. The location on the beach is perfect. We normally travel over Christmas and New Years but our summer trip was awesome – sometimes it felt like we had the beach to ourselves. We could go on and on in praises of Firefly but rest assured we’ll be back!!!
Thank you Nicola, Joan and rest of the staff – you have become cherished friends who run a top rate place in Firefly.
Peace and happiness!

Dear Nicola and staff,
It is hard to believe it has been several months since we were at Firefly
last. As we have been many times we have lost count, each time is great.
When we pull into Negril and get close to Firefly, we never know which one
will be the first to say to the other, "do you feel like you are at home"?
The comment is always, yes, finally! We love Firefly and always feel we are
going to visit friends, as this is how you and everyone else there are to
us. We will keep coming back time and again.
Thank you all so much for so many great stays at our favorite place in the
Caribbean, Firefly.

Hi Nicola,
Thank you for another excellent stay. Everyone at Firefly knows how to make the guests comfortable and happy. It seems like we're at home when we're there and that says a lot about how you work so hard to make it that way.

Nicola, thank you very much for the nice letter and the pictures.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Firefly, being my fifth trip to Negril and my wife's first we were very impressed with the service provided by the staff at Firefly. We will definitely be coming back. From the first rate breakfasts to the outstanding location on the beach made our stay fantastic. Thank you Nicola and staff for making our trip special.

It's hard to believe that a month has passed since we were there! I've got to tell you, we absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back.
I don't think either of us ever felt happier or healthier in our lives than we did that week.
I think we actually could live there. Only problem is we'd need to work instead of walking and lounging on the beach all day! Yuck.
You and your staff are super. Everyone. We truly miss you. Please say hi to all - Maxine, Shawn, Neita, Joan, Dornette. DC, Jerome, etc.
We even loved our little cabin. While chances are that we would upgrade whenever we are able to come back, it really was all we needed.
We felt safe and were very comfortable. For us, it was a week of paradise. Fortunately, we took a lot of pictures.
Hope you have a busy and prosperous spring season.
Ron Derringer, Wisconsin December 28, 2008.
David,
Things are finally starting to settle down a bit from the Christmas holiday and I have a few moments
to thank you again for you and all the Firefly staff's hospitality during this year's Reggae Marathon week visit.
The events and support and camaraderie made for an especially memorable week for me.
As I return each time for another dose of fun and relaxation I find that you, Audrey and staff have become
like favorite relatives - with a place in the middle of one of the worlds best beaches. The Firefly's laid back
ambiance and engaging staff are there to create whatever experience each visitor wants from there precious
time in Negril. From just lazing with friends or family on the beach, to running a marathon, to keeping up
the supply of Red Stripe and Rum Punch, or all of the above, it's not a wonder that so many fall in love with
your little place.
Firefly has served as my home base for Jamaican explorations and adventures, for just hanging out and meeting
new friends for about six years now. It seems that I've developed a need migrate there more often of late.
Thanks so much

To whom it may concern,
The following is a letter that my wife and I prepared after our amazing visit to Firefly and Negril this past fall. We would love for you to use it as a testimonial on your website.
We are also attaching a few pictures from our visit. There were so many wonderful things about the trip. We made some wonderful friends that we miss dearly....Maxine, Marsha, Ces, Arango...we love them and the staff, and cannot wait to see everyone again soon.
Dear Joan, and the rest of the Firefly staff:
My wife and I just returned home from a 9 day visit to beautiful Firefly Resort, in a wonderful place called Negril, Jamaica. My wife, Staci, and I have been married just over 9 months, and still consider ourselves "newlyweds".
Although we had a very short, 3-day honeymoon in Cancun back in January, it wasn't enough time for us to be alone with each other, and really 'connect".
I have two very time-consuming and stressful jobs, a six-year-old daughter, and a few family members that require a lot of my time.
Staci has been working hard to make our recently purchased house a home, as well as keep working a job at the same time.
As you can see, we really needed to get far away from all of the distractions of life back in the U.S., and have some time alone together.
Just by chance, we found Firefly on the Internet. We were searching for warm sunshine, clear water, sandy beaches, and freedom…a kind of hippie-style place, where you can be laid back, enjoy nature, wear as little as you want, and be free. When we arrived there, the dream that we formed in our minds in the weeks before the visit, became a reality…but better!
We want to thank you again for your warm hospitality. We have agreed to make Jamaica a yearly must! Our stay at Firefly was the best time of our lives together, and we are grateful to you all.
Please the owners, the Sykes, know how much we appreciate that there is such a wonderful place like Firefly and Carib, where we can escape to an "all natural" paradise with wonderful and kind people.
Regards.

I find Firefly reminding me of the Jamaica I first visited thirty five years ago. It retains an easy and friendly pace and vibe that is always so enjoyable.
I consider it's wonderful staff as family. Please have great times and holidays until I see you, and give my best to all."
September 2008, in a letter from Carsten and Susanne Koch, with their children Diane and David
Since spring 2003, we came to Firefly as often as we could - all the way from North Germany.
Every single visit has been a great pleasure.
The relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff,
the beautiful garden with its tropical plants
and hummingbirds and the nice clothing-optional beach
make Firefly a pleasant place to spend the holiday.
Since our first stay at Firefly, we have never considered a different accommodation in Jamaica.
The beach bar and its friendly bartender Shawn are
our personal favorite. She makes us feel at home.
Our whole family loves her for her friendly care.
Feel free to quote me on any or all of the above.
Cheers,
Carsten.
Hello everybody at the Firefly! I just wanted
to thank you for putting the Dirty Banana drink recipe in your newsletter.
Back in October of 2004 my husband and I came to your beautiful establishment
for our 5th wedding anniversary and stayed in the penthouse suite. I have
to say it was the best surprise vacation for my husband ever! We still
go on and on about it to this day to everyone we know. My husband drank
those Dirty Bananas everyday we were there and he always wished he knew
how to make them and now we do! I hope someday soon we will get to come
back and enjoy your beautiful country again and have another stay with
you. Hope all is well with everyone and I really do enjoy getting the newsletters!
Take Care & Peace!

We recently returned from an eight-night stay at the Firefly, and it was fabulous.
During our stay, we wanted to renew our wedding vows. I couldn't beleive how much the staff went out of their way to make my special day perfect.
The staff here was awesome - the security, housekeeping, and the bartender (Shawn).
This was our first trip to Jamaica, and after lots of research we chose the Firefly from its testimonials for the best romantic vacation. We are so happy we did!
We stayed in unit #18, the penthouse with ocean view. It was perfect. The views from all directions were beautiful. We walked the beach every day.
We though the Firefly was located in a perfect spot. It was just a two-minute walk to Margaritaville or any restaurant or watersport. It was all nice and close by.
We wanted to try snorkeling. The firefly staff recommended Dr. Bill's Glass Bottom Boat for this.
We ended up going with him two times because he did such a fantastic job.
If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask the staff. They were very helpful. We did go to Mayfield Falls and Roaring Rivers.
Firefly recommended Mr. Jerry (who was a great guy). However, we went with someone else and had a great time, too, but
Mr. Jerry does offer a cheaper deal than what we paid.
We did have Mr. Jerry pick us up and bring us back to the airport for $100 (for two people). I thought the fare was a good deal.
He also took us sightseeing so I could take a lot of pictures of the island. So if you need someone to pick you up, just let Firefly know,
and they will make the arrangements.
Thank you to all the Firefly staff and owners. We had an outstanding time, and will never forget it. We will definitely be back in the future.
It was great!

We spent five days in Firefly Beach Cottages, and we felt very welcomed here.
The surroundings of this charming hotel were like a beautiful quiet garden with many plants and trees around the cottages and bungalows.
That's why we really enjoyed the place.
The beach was nice, and one can have delicious pancakes in the morning.
The owner, Joan, was very nice. She will do all she can to help you achieve what you intend to do.
Firefly Beach Cottages was a quaint paradise.

My stay at the Firefly Beach Cottages was lovely.
I visited for five nights, including New Years Eve, and stayed in two different cottages. Both were very clean and comfortable.
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Best of all, there was a limited number of cottages which meant the number of people residing here was relatively small.
The location of Firefly was approximately in the middle of the Seven Mile Beach, giving easy access to either side.
Firefly was also conveniently located next to a number of excellent restaurants - you can try a different one every night.
Firefly also had a very nice bar with very friendly staff who made a point of remembering our names.
The bar served ice cold drinks and delicious (and filling!) pancakes for breakfast - highly recommended.
The owners were a couple from Kingston and England, and were present during my visit. They were especially nice and attentive.
If you are looking for a quaint, comfortable stay in Negril, Firefly is the place.
Firefly offers sun, fun and relaxation.

I just got back from Firefly two days ago, and it was one of my best holidays ever!
My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the penthouse apartments that overlooks beautiful Negril Beach.
The room was very clean, comfortable and air conditioned, and everyone who worked here was friendly and helpful.
Each morning we had breakfast at Firefly's beach bar - they had excellent pancakes!
The rest of the day was spent lying on the beach reading, swimming and going for walks. It was just what I needed!
Firefly is the perfect place to go to for a relaxing vacation.
It was just perfect!

We wanted to be in the center of the Seven Mile Beach, and stay at a nice hotel with nice, service-minded people. Here, we had it all, and enjoyed a perfect stay.
There were very nice and helpful people at the hotel. They seemed sincere and caring about their guests.
Also, there was a great beach, and it was close to all the nice restaurants, bars, etc.
We will go back to Firefly soon!
This is the best place on the beach.

My fiance and I simply loved Firefly. The rooms were charming, the garden was beautiful, the staff was very friendly and the beach was spectacular.
Our room was right on the beach, we would step out of the door on to the sand.
Every morning we started our day with freshly blended fruit punch at Firefly's beach bar,
then we would either relax on the beach or go water skiing, scuba diving, or running along Negril's Seven Mile Beach.
In the evenings we could easily walk to one of the excellent restaurants in Negril. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and can't wait to go back to Firefly.
Just a quick note to say thank you, to you. The beauty of your spot there on the beach and the charm and good humor of everyone we met is unequaled
anywhere we've ever been before. It goes without saying that we will be back...only question is how soon!

Hi Joan, Chalder, Audrey and David -
We arrived home this morning to about as much snow as we left 12 days ago and a temperature of minus 8,
therefore it goes without saying that we already miss Negril!
We just wanted to write and say how much we enjoyed our stay at Firefly again this year ...
actually even more this year than last as we become more familiar with our surroundings, meet new people and become "settled" in a way.
It is people such as yourselves who help to make our travelling so enjoyable. We find everyone there so accommodating and pleasant.
Dave and I have three more trips planned for this year - two motorcycle trips during our summer and three weeks in Florida in October,
but it is our return trip to Firefly next February that I look forward to most. Knowing we will once again feel the warmth of your country's
people and climate makes the rest of our lives more bearable.
Thanks again for providing such a wonderful place for us to chill out and forget about the rest of the world,
Dave and Paula
The Elliffs - Nov, 2001
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Everyone at Firefly is very friendly and do a great job making you feel at home.
The Cozy Cottage, beach and bar were wonderful. We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.
